AetherSystems Distinguished Lecture Series in Mobile and Wireless Systems

The evolving global information infrastructure has significantly impacted modern society and is playing an increasingly important role in our daily lives. Computing is becoming inexpensive and consequently pervasive -- computers are embedded in an increasingly large number of artifacts. Wireless networks, which are also rapidly growing, provide an opportunity for these computers to constantly interact with each other as well as humans in a ubiquitous (anytime - anywhere) manner. This combination, variously described as mobile, pervasive, or ubiquitous computing, is emerging as an important research topic as well as a source of exciting new scientific and commercial opportunities.

UMBC has an active research program in mobile computing. This year we are organizing a distinguished lecture series on mobile and wireless systems with the generous support of Aether Systems of Owings Mills MD, a leading provider of wireless solutions. The series will bring in leading academic and industrial researchers to talk about exciting new developments in the field. The talks are free and open to public.
